Eleven of our Year 9 girls took part in Work Discovery Week
Launch event at the Stadium of Light today. The event is held at the Stadium of
Light annually to give learners an opportunity to find out about some of the
many careers that are available to them. The day comprised of practical skills
demonstrations, a careers fair and workshops. The girls had a go at some of the
activities brought along by companies such as Caterpillar, Nissan and Liebherr.
Titan the Robot was brought along by South Tyneside College and he gave a
performance in the Stadium car park. This went down extremely well with the
girls.
The group took part in workshops on how to present yourself
to an employer and interview skills. The girls said that this was the most
informative part of the day.
Learners really had their eyes opened to the types of
opportunities available and they all said the day has given them lots to think
about.
